CHILE: Economy faring a bit better
On 5 August the central bank reported that the Imacec index of
economic activity (which is a good proxy for GDP) rose 5.0% year-on-year in June
2008. This figure was well above what independent economists had expected and
much higher than the 2.1% year-on-year growth of May.
